Language should as effectively as possible serve as a means of communication to precisely and concisely convey a specific thought or message. Words should be exact and not susceptible to confusion. As Mark Twain insightfully taught us,“The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug.”
Instead of the word “marriage” to describe the matrimonial relationship between two gay people a more appropriate term should be something like “gayriage.” This way, when one asks a man if he is married, if he is in that kind of relationship with another man he can correctly reply, I am in fact “gayried” and one would immediately know his “matrimonial” status. Those in a gayriage relationship should and would be entitled to all of the same rights, privileges and entitlements as are those in a heterosexual relationship. I believe every man and woman should be offered the choice of what mate he or she chooses for a lifetime partner. In proposing this simple language clarification I am absolutely in no way biased. It’s just an effort to have each of us use the “right” descriptive word to clearly and quickly convey what we mean when we are communicating with each other.
Whatever you do,as long as you do not hurt another, may G-d bless you and reward you with eternal happiness.
